System Engineer / DevOps Kubernetes (OpenShift) – GIS

Job Description

We are looking for a System Engineer / DevOps Kubernetes for our client. The assignment involves deploying and managing GeoServer and HAJK Map within the City of Gothenburg’s OpenShift environment to support GIS operations. The goal is to create a stable, secure, and scalable platform for publishing and visualizing geospatial data both internally and externally.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deploying GeoServer and HAJK Map in an OpenShift production environment.
• Building and maintaining Kubernetes YAML manifests or Helm/Kustomize configurations.
• Implementing GitOps workflows using Argo CD for development, testing, and production environments.
• Managing CI/CD pipelines and repositories in Azure DevOps.
• Ensuring operational stability through health checks, autoscaling, logging, and monitoring.
• Managing security configurations, including secrets, TLS certificates, RBAC, and network policies.
• Handling persistent storage (PVC) and implementing backup/restore procedures.
• Preparing technical documentation, runbooks, and operational guidelines for system management.

Experience Required

Mandatory Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in OpenShift/Kubernetes deployment and operations in production environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift YAML manifests or Helm/Kustomize.
• Experience with GitOps deployments using Argo CD or similar tools.
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Experience configuring OpenShift networking (Routes, Ingress, Services).
• Experience with secure infrastructure management (Secrets, TLS, RBAC, NetworkPolicies).
• Experience managing stateful workloads and persistent storage (PVC).
• Experience working with Java and Node.js applications.
• Ability to create operational documentation and runbooks.

Additional Required Experience

• Experience with GeoServer container deployment.
• Experience with HAJK Map or similar web map clients.
• Experience with OAuth2 / OIDC authentication systems (e.g., Keycloak or Microsoft Entra ID).
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenShift logging.
